Restored Asian Films
海浜の女王 (松竹グラフ) [Queen on the Shore (Shochiku Graph)]
Film Synopsis
This film was shot in Kamakura, the old capital of Japan, and features sporty movie star Denmei Suzuki disguised as a woman and driving far too fast on his motorcycle. Director Kiyohiko Ushihara created a lot of modern looking silent films together with Suzuki. After the closure of the lab section of Ikueisha, Inc., the legendary film technician Choichi Imada was given free lab and film stock use by the Nihon University College of Art for this restoration, which was the second instalment of “Adopt a Film” project by Film Preservation Society.
